Here at Turning Point Schools, our staff strives to be self-sacrificing and dedicated to Christian education. We share a sincere love for children and complete devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ. All of our teachers provide a high-quality learning experience that meets the educational and spiritual needs of the students at TPS. From the greeter at the front door to the custodial staff, the love of Jesus Christ is demonstrated throughout the day.

LaQuila Dunn

Principal

I am a native of Anderson, IN. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Troy University (Troy, AL) and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Indianapolis in 2003. I completed my Master’s in Educational Leadership at the University of Indianapolis in 2005. I have 20 years of experience in the field of education. I have always been very committed to the children, families, and communities that I have been given the opportunity to serve. When I am not with my family, I love serving at my church, going to yard sales, traveling to new places, and watching old childhood movies. One of my favorite scriptures is  Proverbs 3:5-6  Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Katrina Jones

Director

I began my employment with TP Schools in 2007 assisting in the 2 ½-year-old classes. I continued being promoted working with all preschool age groups until 2014 when I became the Director of Early Childhood Education and Childcare. I have been CDA certified for seven years as well as received my Director's credentials in 2018. Along with serving as the Director of TP Kiddie Academy, I am also an EMS instructor and a licensed Chaplain. I have the amazing opportunity to make a difference in the early childhood field by being a partner of the UWCI and a mentor to other childcare programs. As a member of TP Family Worship Center, this makes my job more than just a job, but truly a ministry. Married since 2003, my husband and I are the proud parents of three children.

Elga DeJesus

Financial Director

I work directly with parents to develop and implement their financial plans for each student. I have more than 10 years of financial and human services experience. In 2015, I graduated from Charter Oak College. I have been working at Turning Point Schools since 2015 and love serving the children of God. My passion is to provide excellent service to everyone in need through mission work. My husband and I have been married since 1994 and we are proud parents of three beautiful daughters. 

Monya Hicks-Jones

Office Adminstrator 

I am the Office Administrator and I have been working at Turning Point Schools for a year. I graduated from Lawrence North High School last year and will be studying Business Administration. A fun fact about me is that I attended TP Schools at the age of 3 and also 3rd through 6th grade.

Niesha Hicks

School Liaison

I am a recent graduate from the University of Indianapolis with a degree in communication. In college, I had the amazing opportunity to intern at WTHR and serve as the Director of Production for the University's television station. I am excited to bring all of my skills to TP Schools as the School Liason. I love passing on my knowledge to others. Fun fact about me, Turning Point Schools was my very first job in High School.

I was born and raised in Hammond, IN. I attended Ball State University. I have an associate of applied science in nursing. I am a wife and mother of three boys. I enjoy taking naps whenever time permits.

I have been an employee at Turning Point Schools for 5 years. I have teaching experience in Preschool and Middle School Social Studies. My current role at TPS is Student Liaison. I am also the Student Council Advisor and I enjoy planning school events, and activities that provide opportunities for service and leadership for our students. I recently received certification in Microsoft Word and Excel, and I plan to attend college in the near future to pursue a degree in Business. A fun fact about me is that I love learning new languages, traveling, and doing Missions Work. 

I'm 46 years old married with 6 children, three girls, and three boys. I've been in childcare for about 24 years now. Four years ago I received my CDA. I love working with kids because your ability to teach and mold them into good things. Nowadays you have a lot of single parenting and kids at home alone. So they miss out on a lot of their social and emotional skills because they have to grow up faster or they have an older sibling raising them who don't know what they're doing. So it gives me a chance to teach them those things that they really going to need in life as an adult. Also, I love love love loving on them..... Being with kids all day is not for everyone, it has to be in your heart. I just love it.

I've been in childcare since 1999. I am currently working on completing my CDA. Growing up, I had fun teachers that deposited a lot of good things in me at home, school, and church. A fun fact about me, I read that scents are associated with your memory, so I always wear perfume so when the kids hug me, they associate me with a scented memory. It’s true because I still remember the names of the teachers that wore perfume when I was a child.

Shanya Jackson

Preschool Co-Teacher- 3 Years Old

I have been teaching for almost 3 years. I have a Bachelor's in Science, Child Development Associate Certificate, Dental x-rays, and Coronal Polishing for the state of Kentucky. I love teaching and giving my students a chance to express themselves and learn through play. Fun fact: I love traveling, I am a dental assistant and I travel to different militaries and work on teeth.

Alyiah Owens

Preschool Teacher- 4 Years Old

This is my third year teaching in preschool, but my first as a lead teacher. One year I was an aftercare teacher for first and second grade. I love teaching because I love seeing kids progress. I love being able to look back and see how much they have grown. Fun fact about me I quit my first job in the middle of my shift to work here. I waited a long time to be old enough to work here. 

Jazmyn Cheese

Preschool Teacher- 4 Years Old

I have been teaching for 12 years. I started while I was still in college. I have 2 CDA (Child Developments Associates) one is in Infant/Toddler, and the other is in Preschool/Pre-kindergarten. I am passionate about teaching because it is a God-given gift. I’ve been called to serve children and I enjoy doing it through academics and ministry. I am honored at the fact that I have a hand in the development and shaping of early childhood minds and sowing seeds in them that will walk with them for the rest of their life.

I have been teaching for 5 years. I have an associate degree in Science and Child Development Associate. I am passionate about teaching because I enjoy watching children grow in all aspects; physically, emotionally, and academically! 

Fun Fact: I enjoy traveling! (Florida is my second home)

Jewel Patterson

Preschool Teacher- 4 Years Old

I have been teaching in the preschool program for nearly two years now and I have had a blast with my little people. Over the last 5 years, I have studied biology, public health, and nursing. I have finally decided to complete my nursing degree which should be accomplished by the fall of next year. A few things I enjoy to do is dance, revise writing, shop online, make artwork, work in ministry, and travel with my family. 

Tanaya Jett

I have been an employee here at Turning Point Schools for eight years and I have been teaching kindergarten for four years. I am currently working on my bachelor’s degree in Human Services. The reason I am so passionate about teaching is that I get the wonderful opportunity to shape, train, teach, and mold children in a way that I never experienced as a child. I am grateful that I not only get a chance to teach children academically but I also get the chance to impact them socially, emotionally, and spiritually. It brings my heart so much joy to have such a positive influence in the life of a child!

I've been teaching for over 15 years, 9 of those years here at TP Schools. I received my CDA credentials in early childhood education in 2013 and worked in Preschool for most of my time at TP schools This year I have the pleasure of teaching Kindergarten and I love it. I love to teach and share new and exciting things with children I'm creative and dedicated to my role as an Educator.

I have been at TP Schools for 8 years with a degree in General Education. I enjoy imparting knowledge in students and making a difference in their lives. I enjoy spending time with my family, volunteering at my church, and traveling.

I've been teaching for 5 years now. I'm currently getting 2 bachelors. One in General Education k-6 and the second one in Special Education K-12. I love teaching because I get to help my students reach their goals and see how much they grow!

  Bryan Raines     

5th Grade Teacher Assistant                          

This will be my fifth year at TP Schools and my first year with fifth grade! I am very excited about this school year. I have 5 sisters and 4 brothers. I was born and raised in the Sunshine State, Florida. I am a specialist in the U.S. Army and have been in for the last six years. My MOS (military operational specialty) is 92G, Food Service Specialist. I enjoy watching football and spending time with my friends and family. When I’m
not working, I am either at church or at home enjoying time to myself.

Shateara Louissaint

        8th Grade Teacher                           

I am the 6 th -8 th Grade Science teacher and the 8th-grade homeroom teacher this year. Originally from Anderson, Indiana, but raised in Atlanta, Georgia. I moved back to Indianapolis in 2009. I have been working at TP schools since 2010, serving as an aftercare director, and teacher assistant, and now going into my fourth year of teaching. Science has always been my favorite subject, as I excelled in many science academic
classes.  I love to make scrapbooks and praise dance.  I am honored to have the opportunity of impacting student’s lives every day!

As a child, I attended TP Schools and now I have the privilege of working here! I first started here in 2016 doing aftercare and then transitioned into the Preschool assistant teacher role. This year I am currently working as a Kindergarten Assistant Teacher and have had a blast working with the students.

I have been teaching at Turning Point as a teacher since 2010. I have an associate's degree and a Child Development Associate. I absolutely love teaching! I love the enthusiasm and excitement on the faces of the students when they learn something new and learn in deferent ways.  I love to teach while having fun as they learn while having fun. I enjoy and thank God for how a child can be having such a great time and not even realizing they are learning something new. The first time I worked for TP Schools, I was an assistant teacher and one of the current Pre-K teachers was one of my students when it was across the street in 2001. I also trained for the 2000 Olympics in the 100m hurdles.

I have been assisting teachers at Turning Point Schools for 3 and a half years. I graduated from North Central High School and went to Kaplan College where I earned my Medical Assisting Certification. A fun fact about me is I love to double dutch, writing poems, and singing with my twin sister.

I am excited to be a part of the Turning Point Schools family as the second-grade teacher. My areas of expertise are elementary ELA and Math.

My formalized education included over teen years of Supervisor Certified Training of A.C.E. I love education, music, drawing, singing, and am experienced keyboard player and drummer. I am an enthusiastic learner and look for simple yet creative ways to motivate my students to strive for excellence and it is with joy I celebrate their "good" choices.

I am a graduate of Ball State University.  I have a degree in General Studies with an emphasis in Psychology and a minor in Creative Writing and Spanish.  I have been working with children for 22 years.  My background is in Special Education but I have worked in several areas such as Reading Recovery, Mathematics, Creative Writing, and Drama. I am passionate about the academic and social growth and development of students. I love to see when the light bulb of understanding goes off and the children are able to actualize their place and position and contribution to our society. 

Rachman Crable

7th Grade Teacher/ School Dean                         

I have been teaching for 6 months but have been in the field working with youth for 8 years now. I have a BS from Ball State in criminal justice with a minor in counseling psychology. I am CPR/ 1st aid certified. I am trained to teach group dynamics and norms, gender-specific training, supervisory training, developmental and working with outside systems training. I am passionate about the opportunity to be a positive influence and reinforce ideas and concepts in a Christian school

When I was younger, my mother made me take tap dance and play tennis because these were things she enjoyed. I didn't play organized sports until I got to high school.

I've been teaching for 19 years. I've taught Pre-K 2/3 yr olds, Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd for 6 years, and I'm currently teaching the AWESOME 5TH Grade Class! I'll be continuing my degree in teaching this year at Indiana Tech. I love teaching. Teaching is my life! I get excited about watching when students have the drive to learn more and can master the skill after teaching a rigorous lesson. There's no greater reward than knowing you have stimulated a student to master it! Teaching has proven to be the destin call on my life! I love making a difference in someone's life. I enjoy being creative with a lesson and bringing the lesson to life! "When teaching is fun ALL the work GETS done," teaching is my life!

I have worked at TP Schools for about 16 years. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and am working towards my Master's in Education. I love teaching at TP Schools! It allows me to deposit into the lives of young people and also gives me the opportunity to pour into them the Word of God.

I have studied mathematics and accounting principles since 2003. A combination of internship and business experience has prepared me for the higher new Indiana Department of Education requirements for "Real-Life Higher Order Thinking Questions" I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting and Spanish. I am currently working on a Masters Degree in Education. I am passionate about teaching because I love to see the light bulb come on for the students when they learn a new concept. I enjoy being able to encourage and help the students through challenges when they feel that they can't achieve their goals.

I’ve been teaching for 6 years now. I have a Bachelors in Fine Arts degree. I love to create its fun, relaxing, therapeutic, and interesting to see what can be made out if a few supplies. I minored in education also.

I have been teaching for 2 years! I have a passion for teaching because I love to share my knowledge. I care about what is being instilled in our children. I want the seeds that I plant in your child to flourish to a great future. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to teach Spanish at Turning Point School. I love seeing the excitement on a child’s face when they have learned another word in Spanish. Fun fact: I am from Honduras.

Austin Blackmon

This is my first year teaching music academically. I am a traveling musician for multiple Gospel Recording Artist. I want to make it my responsibility to make sure that when the
students leave my class that they are fully equipped with the basic foundation of music theory and confidence in their musical and creative abilities.

Ashley Moore

 I am originally from Lexington Kentucky. My husband and I just recently relocated to Indianapolis, IN from Washington D.C. I have a degree in Family and Consumer Science with a concentration in Child Studies from Western Kentucky University. I have been teaching for over 10 years. I have been privileged as an educator to teach grades preschool through 8th grade. I absolutely love being an educator and instilling the core values that will enhance and instruct students of all backgrounds. I believe that every child should receive quality and inclusive education that will prepare them for their future no matter their background, social status, or ethnicity. I enjoy family, ministry, music, and fashion.

I have several years of experience in early childhood education. I've been a teacher at TP Schools since 2016. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication and Paraprofessional certification. I'm passionate about teaching because I like helping students broaden their knowledge, understanding, and potential.
